Obama Connects With His Inner George Bush On Golf Cart One
BARACK Obama is not black or white, he’s just a typical US President, eating fast food snacks, checking out girl’s arses, loving his two daughters and hitting golf balls as the world burns.
Anorak told you that you’d miss George Bush when he was gone. But he’s not gone – his spirit lives in Obama. On Golf Cart One, Obama rides out his greens credentials:
BARACK Obama has just completed the 24th round of golf he has played since he became President of the United States. In just nine months in office, he has undertaken as many rounds of thrashing and cursing as his predecessor managed in two years and nine months. And George W Bush fancied himself on the fairway.
Bush, of course was an idiot to the media at large. Even when Bush gave up golf, the press saw it as a sign of his idiocy:
In an interview with the Politico website, the president said he took the decision because of the war. “I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”
Why did he give up the pointless game?
Bush said he laid down his clubs after the August 2003 bombing of United Nations offices in Baghdad that killed the UN’s top official in the country, Sergio Vieira de Mello. “I remember when de Mello got killed as a result of these murderers taking this good man’s life. I was playing golf – I think in central Texas – and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, ‘It’s just not worth it any more’.”
Does that sound dumb or a man being sensitive to his image?
There can no more compliment to satire than for a reader to laugh hysterically while throwing up at the same time. That is what we call “satirical nirvana,” and President Bush literally blew the roof off the house of satirical possibility with his admission this week that he gave up golf in 2003 out of respect for U.S. soldiers killed in the Iraq war.
But this is only Bush’s second most controversial golf quote. Michael Moore used Bush’s number one comment for Fahrenheit 9/11, a film that wished to show only the most awful moments form the other side. Nine Israelis had just been murdered on a bus. The press pack caught up with bush in the sand trap:
“Before starting his game yesterday, Mr. Bush, his driver in his left gloved hand, took time to condemn an overnight suicide bombing of a bus in Israel that killed at least nine. “I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers,” Mr. Bush said on the first green of Cape Arundel, at 6:15 a.m. “Thank you. Now watch this drive.” Without the slightest pause, Mr. Bush turned to his game – and hit his first ball into the rough.” –NYT, August 5, 2002
But Obama is something different. Get his from the Daily Mail:
While his predecessor in the White House had a reputation as a golfing playboy, Barack Obama has cultivated a somewhat more serious, down-to-business image.
Obama has cultivated a serious image, or the press has created one for hi?
The story is not that Obama should be more praised or despised than Bush, but that every American leader is atypical American leader: vain, showy and good on camera…
